Community-led development
Working with communities, from the ground up.
We are a local development association working across agriculture, environmental protection, social support and coastal livelihoods.
Local knowledge. Shared progress.
Practical support shaped by communities and the places they call home.
Why we are here
We live with the same realities we work to change.
Families across Puntland rely on land, water, rangelands and coastal resources. Climate variability and environmental pressure make daily life less certain.
BDA was formed in Garowe to respond with practical work shaped by the people it is meant to serve—not imported solutions or one-size-fits-all plans.

The issues are connected. Our work should be too.
Food, water, livelihoods and healthy ecosystems affect one another. BDA brings them into one community-led approach.
Environmental Protection
Community awareness, restoration and sustainable land management reduce environmental pressure and strengthen ecosystem health.
Social Services & Community Support
BDA supports vulnerable groups through capacity-building, awareness, referral pathways and project-specific youth and women empowerment.
Boswellia Fragrance & Resin Development
BDA promotes sustainable harvesting, tree protection, value-addition and fair-trade livelihood opportunities for Boswellia frereana (Maydi) and frankincense trees across Puntland.
Agriculture & Food Security
BDA supports agricultural livelihoods through practical training, improved production methods, climate-smart practices and community-based learning.
Marine Community Development
Responsible marine resource use and locally appropriate livelihood support help coastal communities benefit while protecting marine ecosystems.
A note from Garowe
People already understand their land, seasons and livelihoods. Our role is to listen, add practical support and remain accountable.
